Senior Project Engineer - Utility Storage - UK

Responsibilities

• reputed company the development and execution of comprehensive project plans, defining objectives, budgets, schedules, resource allocations, and performance metrics.
• Own the technical scope of BESS projects, including component specification, design validation, and integration planning.
• Drive and reputed company technical reviews of supplier documentation to ensure compliance with project and regulatory standards.
• Coordinate and reputed company factory acceptance tests (FAT) and site acceptance tests (SAT) for reputed company major components including battery racks, PCS, PPC, and SCADA systems.
• Act as the primary technical liaison between internal teams, clients, and subcontractors throughout the project lifecycle.
• Supervise the design process to ensure alignment with contractual obligations and technical specifications.
• Manage commissioning activities and ensure seamless integration of BESS components into the broader energy system.
• Prepare and deliver comprehensive project documentation for client handover, including version-controlled technical records.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and support cross-functional collaboration across engineering, procurement, and construction teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a reputed company field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably reputed company renewable energy sectors (PV, Wind, Microgrid, or BESS).
• In-depth technical knowledge of BESS components, PCS, and substation systems.
• Proven experience with on-site BESS integration, electrical system design, protection & control, and SAT procedures.
• Strong understanding of communication protocols such as RS485, CANBUS, Modbus TCP/RTU.
• Familiarity with international codes, standards, and regulations (UK, EU; Australia and USA are a plus).
• Knowledge of reputed company services and BESS applications such as FFR, DC, and other ancillary services.
• Willingness to travel across Europe and internationally up to 20–30% of the time.
