The Opportunity: Chief Operating Officer

arenaflex is seeking an exceptional Chief Operating Officer (COO) to lead our operations into the future. Role Overview

The Chief Operating Officer will assume responsibility for arenaflex's overall domestic and global operations, management, and sustainable business growth strategies. Working in a schedule-driven environment, the COO must maintain awareness of market and workforce trends to meet customer, member, and stakeholder needs while serving as a solutions-oriented and data-driven leader.

Given the extensive tenure of many senior leaders and remarkable institutional knowledge, the COO must be able to learn from and leverage colleagues and work closely with the CEO and functional leaders on all matters of strategy and direction. Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Operations Leadership: Direct the organization's overall domestic and global business operations and systems, including but not limited to resource management, employee benefits, business insurance, senior leadership team performance, treasury, financial management, legal, risk management, payroll, and technology initiatives.
  • Business Development: Establish and recommend business initiatives that improve operations, generate revenue, or control costs that position the organization for growth and sustainability.
  • Financial Oversight: Manage corporate budgets and other organizational resources using approved financial guidelines, accepted practices, policies, and procedures; develop long-range financial plans that align with the organization's strategic needs.
  • Process Improvement: Plan and execute systems, plans, and procedures; delegate team members to special projects while ensuring accountability and excellence in execution.
  • Culture & Vision: Collaborate and contribute to policy development that promotes company culture and vision, serving as a champion of arenaflex's values and mission.
  • Performance Excellence: Participate in and monitor continuous improvement efforts to increase efficiencies, enhance quality control, and reduce operational costs.
  • Strategic Analysis: Evaluate key performance indicators by analyzing and interpreting data and metrics; perform forecasting, projections, and predictive modeling to inform strategic decision-making.
  • Board Relations: Collaborate with the Board of Directors to develop the organization's vision and strategic focus; serve as a staff contact for the Board's Executive Committee and the Finance and Audit Committee.
  • Industry Expertise: Maintain current knowledge of professional and industry trends, ensuring arenaflex remains at the forefront of operational excellence and innovation.
  • Reporting & Communication: Create, review, audit, and modify various reports for executive leadership and the Board, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and strategic value.

Qualifications & Experience

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field; education may be substituted with 10 years of Chief Operating Officer experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of Chief Operating Officer or similar senior leadership experience required.
  • Demonstrated experience in revenue improvement strategies and operational optimization.
  • Experience with annual external financial audit processes and compliance requirements.
  • Depth of experience in managing teams, supporting cross-functional collaboration, promoting change management, developing staff, and establishing clear goals.
  • Minimum of 5 years of public speaking experience, including addressing executive teams and stakeholders.

Onboarding & Integration

The COO will begin at a significant and opportune time for both the knowledge transfer of the position and prior to arenaflex's critical meeting, Finance Congress, and the annual schedule of board meetings to immerse and connect across all channels immediately. Within the first year, the COO will have the opportunity to learn arenaflex's overall operations, including its business processes, employees, member demographics, programs and products, vendors, supporters, and information systems.
