Position Overview

We're seeking an exceptional Senior Real World Evidence Data Scientist to join our dynamic Scientific Affairs team at arenaflex. This is a unique opportunity to apply your advanced analytical skills to transform complex healthcare data into actionable insights that impact patient care and treatment outcomes. This remote position offers the flexibility of part-time work with competitive compensation of $27/hour. You'll be working with cutting-edge analytics platforms and methodologies while collaborating with healthcare professionals, data scientists, and industry leaders. The role reports directly to our Chief, Clinical Data Science and provides an excellent platform for professional growth in the healthcare analytics field.

Key Responsibilities

Data Management & Preparation

• Mine raw datasets to deliver standardized, analysis-ready patient partners from in-house data resources or licensed platforms
• Analyze and interpret complex healthcare data results while helping shape overall analysis strategy
• Clean, transform, and store data into a structured data lake for future analysis and broader team utilization
• Ensure data quality, integrity, and compliance with healthcare data privacy standards

Analysis & Insights Generation

• Conduct advanced data mining and statistical analysis to examine RWE/RWD for new insights regarding patient populations and treatment outcomes
• Develop innovative methodologies to address unmet needs in treatment patterns and healthcare economic burden
• Perform cost-effectiveness modeling to support healthcare decision-making
• Design and execute epidemiological and observational research studies using healthcare data
• Create dashboards, analytical reports, and visualizations for both internal and external stakeholders

Collaboration & Project Development

• Partner with arenaflex Clinical Research teams to deliver meaningful insights from real-world, clinical, and diverse data sources
• Support the development of real-world data, analytics, and platform capabilities
• Collaborate on design and execution of outcomes research studies
• Perform due diligence on new real-world data provider vendors and drive RWD quality assessments to inform project decisions
• Ensure high-quality, comprehensive, and readily interpretable outputs from RWE studies and analyses

Essential Qualifications

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Health Informatics, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, or related field
• Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience with R, Python, or SQL for data analysis and manipulation
• Experience designing and executing robust and reproducible statistical analyses in the context of epidemiology and observational research with healthcare data
• Knowledge of common statistical testing methods including generalized linear models, classification and regression, decision trees, ensemble learning, time series analysis, and survival analysis

Technical Skills

• Experience processing large datasets from multiple data sources
• Experience handling protected health information (PHI) with appropriate privacy and security protocols
• Knowledge of at least one of the following: Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, Spotfire, or other business intelligence and visualization tools
• Proficiency in data manipulation, statistical analysis, and machine learning techniques
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities

Preferred Qualifications

• Expertise in Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems, Health IT, disease registries, and insurance claims databases
• Aptitude in clinical data standards, medical terminologies, and controlled vocabularies used in healthcare data and ontologies (ICD9/10, ReadCode)
• Experience with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and/or regulatory compliance requirements for real-world evidence analysis or clinical trials (e.g., ISO, MDD/MDR, CFR)
• Experience handling alternative data sources and alternative methods for clinical data collection, particularly those enabled by technology platforms
• Experience with trial design, Bayesian modeling, sequential data analysis, and computational statistics
• Understanding of advanced statistics and machine learning methods, with ability for self-learning of technical and non-technical skills
