Why This Role Matters

At arenaflex, the Experience Configuration group is at the heart of our transformation. We tackle complex challenges that redefine how customers discover, evaluate, purchase, and receive products in their homes. As the Associate Director of Product Design, you will lead a talented team of UX designers and strategists, shaping the end‑to‑end experience for both B2B partners and millions of consumers. Your vision will directly influence product strategy, drive revenue growth, and set new standards for usability across the e‑commerce landscape.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Vision & Roadmap

  • Define and communicate a clear, data‑driven product experience strategy that aligns design initiatives with business goals, scalability, and market impact.
  • Partner with the Product Management, Engineering, and Data Science teams to translate user insights into actionable design roadmaps.
  • Stay ahead of emerging UX trends, technology advancements, and competitive movements to keep arenaflex at the forefront of digital commerce.

Design Leadership & Execution

  • Lead the creation of high‑impact, user‑centric experiences across web, mobile, and emerging platforms, ensuring consistency and brand cohesion.
  • Champion lean design processes, rapid prototyping, and iterative testing to accelerate delivery without compromising quality.
  • Oversee the production of detailed design artifacts—site maps, user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and design systems—that guide development teams.

Team Development & Culture

  • Recruit, mentor, and grow a diverse team of senior UX designers, visual designers, and design researchers.
  • Foster an inclusive, collaborative culture that encourages experimentation, continuous learning, and cross‑functional partnership.
  • Establish clear performance metrics, provide regular feedback, and create career pathways that empower designers to reach their full potential.

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Act as the primary liaison between design, product, engineering, and analytics, ensuring alignment on priorities, timelines, and success criteria.
  • Facilitate workshops, design sprints, and stakeholder reviews that surface insights, validate concepts, and drive consensus.
  • Leverage quantitative data (A/B tests, funnel analysis) and qualitative research (user interviews, usability testing) to inform design decisions.

Operational Excellence

  • Manage project timelines, resource allocation, and risk mitigation to deliver high‑quality design solutions on schedule.
  • Implement and refine design governance processes, including design reviews, handoff standards, and documentation practices.
  • Continuously measure the impact of design initiatives on key business metrics such as conversion rate, average order value, and customer satisfaction.

Essential Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Human‑Computer Interaction (HCI), Interaction Design, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • Experience: Minimum 8‑10 years of progressive experience in UX design, with at least 4 years in a leadership role overseeing multidisciplinary design teams.
  • Domain Knowledge: Proven track record designing for B2B, SaaS, or enterprise platforms, preferably within the e‑commerce or retail sector.
  • Technical Proficiency: Mastery of modern design tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, InVision, UXPin, and the ability to produce high‑fidelity prototypes.
  • Front‑End Fundamentals: Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to effectively communicate with engineering partners.
  • Analytical Acumen: Strong ability to interpret user research, analytics, and market data to shape design strategy and prioritize features.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication, capable of presenting complex ideas clearly to senior leadership and cross‑functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a design‑related field or an MBA with a focus on product strategy.
  • Experience building and scaling design systems that support multiple product lines and platforms.
  • Background in accessibility (WCAG) and inclusive design practices.
  • Track record of launching high‑traffic consumer-facing products that achieved measurable business outcomes.
  • Familiarity with agile and Scrum methodologies, and experience acting as a product owner or design lead in sprint cycles.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to see the big picture while diving deep into details, balancing user needs with business objectives.
  • Leadership & Mentorship: Inspire, coach, and develop talent, creating a high‑performing, collaborative design culture.
  • User‑Centric Mindset: Empathy for diverse user groups, with a relentless focus on solving real problems.
  • Data‑Driven Decision Making: Leverage quantitative and qualitative insights to validate hypotheses and iterate quickly.
  • Collaboration: Build strong relationships across product, engineering, marketing, and analytics to drive unified outcomes.
  • Innovation: Champion new design methodologies, emerging technologies, and creative problem‑solving approaches.

Career Growth & Learning Opportunities

arenaflex invests heavily in the professional development of its leaders. In this role, you will have access to:

  • Executive mentorship programs and leadership workshops.
  • Conference sponsorships (e.g., UXPA, Interaction, DesignOps) and industry networking events.
