Administrative Assistant 2 (12-4430)
The North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services is seeking an Administrative Assistant 2 to provide essential administrative support within the Division of Administrative Services for the Department of Public Safety. The role involves assisting with human resources, payroll, travel, inventory management, and procurement in a fast-paced law enforcement environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist with various functions, including human resources, payroll, travel, inventory management, and procurement
- Provide direct support for law enforcement and criminal justice activities
- Exercise creativity and innovation in identifying potential improvements to administrative functions while working in coordination with various offices, divisions, and teams
Skills
- Six months of entry-level technical experience in one or more administrative functional areas such as human resources, accounting, administration, and procurement
- One year of advanced-level clerical experience
- One year of post-secondary education from an accredited college (32 semester hours or 48 quarter hours equals 1 year)
- One year of any combination of post-secondary education, vocational education, and/or advanced-level clerical experience
- Extensive knowledge of administrative functions essential for supporting business operations, including personnel management, purchasing and inventory control, accounts payable/receivable, and financial monitoring
- Proficient in utilizing computers, software applications, databases, and automated systems to efficiently complete tasks
- Strong ability to communicate complex information regarding policies, procedures, and regulations to the public, both in person, over the phone, and in writing
- Skilled in effective time management to meet deadlines, optimize productivity, and manage unexpected tasks while maintaining quality
- Conscientious about attending to detail and performing work thoroughly
- Copies of the two (2) most recent performance evaluations OR two (2) letters of professional recommendation
- A copy of academic transcripts if using education to meet the minimum qualifications
- This position requires the incumbent to submit to a fingerprint based criminal history background check
- The successful candidate will be required to read, understand, and agree to via signature, an agreement of confidentiality concerning the work commonly encountered within the Department of Public Safety
