[Remote] Associate Attorney
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. All Family Legal, PC is a full-service family law firm that provides high quality, caring legal services for assisted reproduction, adoption, dissolution/divorce, custody, co-parenting agreements, parentage orders, and guardianships. The Associate Attorney will manage a caseload and provide empathetic guidance to clients, ensuring compliance with legal standards while supporting the firm's commitment to diversity and community engagement.
Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload in areas including dissolution/divorce, custody, parentage, support, adoption, assisted reproduction, surrogacy and guardianships
- Conduct client consultations and provide clear, empathetic guidance to individuals from a wide variety of backgrounds
- Draft assisted reproduction agreements, court pleadings, declarations, motions, stipulations, and other family law-related legal documents
- Review agreements with clients to ensure full client understanding of long and complex contracts and facilitate negotiations and revisions with opposing counsel
- Communicate regularly with clients regarding case strategy, updates, and document needs
- Review client engagement agreements, filings, and court submissions
- Develop case strategy collaboratively with senior attorneys and contribute to team discussions
- Work closely with paralegals, case managers, and administrators to ensure timely filings, calendaring, and client communications
- Conduct legal research and maintain a strong understanding of evolving family law statutes and case law
- Support the firm’s commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and compassionate client-centered advocacy
- Participate in community education opportunities, pro bono initiatives, and training activities aligned with the firm’s values
- Maintain detailed case notes and ensure compliance with ethical obligations, confidentiality, and firm procedures
- Perform other legal responsibilities as assigned to support the overall success of the team
- Appear at hearings, settlement conferences, mediations, and other court proceedings as needed
Skills
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Active membership in good standing with the California State Bar (or pending 2026 admission with ability to be supervised under appropriate rules)
- The ideal candidate for this job is extremely detail oriented: when someone calls you Type A, you wear it as a badge of honor and strive to get to Type A+
- Exceptional attention to detail and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines across a very high‑volume caseload
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills, including the ability to draft clear, persuasive pleadings and declarations
- Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal—with the ability to interact compassionately and effectively with clients from diverse backgrounds
- Demonstrated commitment to inclusivity, cultural humility, and serving LGBTQ individuals, diverse families, and underrepresented communities
- Ability to work collaboratively with senior attorneys, paralegals, and staff while also exercising sound independent judgment
- Comfort working in a fast‑paced environment and adapting to evolving workflows, technology, and case needs
- Proficiency with legal software, case management systems, and standard office technology and ability to adapt to new tech tools; enthusiasm for improving systems and processes
- Professionalism, reliability, and a positive, solution-oriented mindset
