Tax Associate - New Jersey and New York (Hybrid)
Mercer Advisors is a leading financial services firm that has been assisting families with their financial needs for over 40 years. The Tax Associate is responsible for preparing income tax returns and projections for high-net-worth clients, while collaborating with the wealth management teams to provide comprehensive tax compliance services.
Responsibilities
- Prepare tax returns for high-net-worth individuals, trusts and businesses
- Create quarterly estimates and projections
- Responsible for timely and accurate response to tax questions, estimates, projections, and analysis with both tax and wealth management clients
- Coordinate with tax support staff to ensure timely workflow practices and data integrity
- Work with tax staff to respond to tax notices and initial preparation of correspondence
- Stays up to date on tax law and any changes
- All other duties as assigned
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
- Working knowledge of tax preparation, preferably 1-3+ years of experience working in public accounting
- Obtained or plan to obtain CPA or EA, a plus
- Experience with CCH, including Axcess, Workflow and Practice, and SafeSend, a plus
- Highly organized and tax-oriented
- Ability to handle a large volume of activities at one time
- Ability to communicate concepts to clients and advisors in concise and understandable fashion
- Must be detail-oriented and have excellent time-management skills
