In the U.S., Client markets a first-in-class pyruvate kinase (PK) activator for the treatment of hemolytic anemia in adults with PK deficiency. Building on the company’s leadership in the field of cellular metabolism, Client is advancing a robust clinical pipeline of investigational medicines with active and planned programs in alpha- and beta-thalassemia, sickle cell disease, pediatric PK deficiency and MDS-associated anemia. The impact you will make: The Clinical Educator (CNE) is responsible for establishing strong working relationships with patients, healthcare professionals and internal partners. The CNE will utilize their professional skills and clinical experience to engage with health care providers to present Client support services, educate about our disease state education resources and approved product and disease state messaging. The CNE will also gain insights from clinical teams and office staff supporting patients with Sickle Cell disease to further their understanding of the disease burden associated with Sickle Cell disease and the types of support they need for their patients. The CNE also supports the patient centric business model by providing disease and product education to patients and families affected by genetic disease for which Client provides a treatment option. Territory to include this major market: What you will do:

  • The CNE will work closely with patients, families and care teams to provide in-depth education and resources to support and empower patients/caregivers living with Sickle Cell disease.
  • Provide opportunities to make connections with other patients and caregivers affected by Sickle Cell disease.
  • Deliver educational programs (in person or virtually) with patients, families and caregivers affected by Sickle Cell disease.
  • Utilize approved messaging during engagements with healthcare professionals to provide disease state education and raise awareness of Sickle Cell disease and the role of the Clinical Nurse Educator.
  • Effectively collaborate with cross functional partners (Hemolytic Anemia Specialists (and Patient Support Managers) on complex patient and customer issues.
  • Collaborate with Client advocacy team (Patient Community Ambassadors) to identify regional diseases state education initiatives
  • Collaborate effectively with team members to address needs and enhance process improvement opportunities.
  • Timely follow up on committed appointments internally / externally
  • Delivers activity updates to regional colleagues, ensuring effective cross-functional collaboration within the regional team to support initiatives.
  • Document all activities in appropriate CRM tools to facilitate the tracking of key metrics.
  • Ensure all activities are conducted in a manner that is compliant with industry rules, regulations and Client policies.

What you bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree, clinical background in nursing, an advance practice provider, Genetic Counseling.
  • Experience working with Sickle Cell disease patients/clinics.
  • 5+ years of related experience, including supporting patients. Hematology or rare disease background, Sickle Cell disease experience preferred.
  • Exceptional communications skills (written, verbal and presentation)
  • Ability to think strategically, work independently and collaborate across a diverse cross functional team, exhibiting a result driven mindset.
  • Ability to travel in the US (up to 50-75% travel)

Work Location: Location Specific – Field/Remote: This is a remote based field position. Employees in field roles must reside within their designated territory. Regular conversations with manager are encouraged to ensure alignment on in-person presence/expectations. SCD ACE: These roles will be patient-facing educators. Initially, as we start with zero patients, the ACE will spend time in offices and clinics creating awareness about the DSE program for SCD. The ACE will build trust and credibility with providers, encouraging them to share information about the DSE program with their patients. This will help patients enroll in the DSE program to receive support, education, and connections from the ACE. Critical Success Factors:

  • Outgoing and engaging personality with a passion for Sickle Cell disease.
  • Someone that can work in an urban environment
  • Comfortable creating new relationships with patients, advocates, and healthcare professionals (HCPs).
  • Flexible and adaptable in their approach to meet the evolving needs of the patient community and Client.
  • Experience in SCD, empathy for the SCD community, or a strong desire to make a difference in the SCD community.
  • Comfortable working in a fast paced work environment
  • Previous industry experience in roles such as Clinical Nurse Educator, Patient Education Liaison, or similar positions. Industry experience is preferred, but contract workers will also be considered.
  • For those with less industry experience, we are looking to hire RNs, GCs, NPs, or PAs currently working in clinics, preferably in the SCD space or hematology offices.
