Job Title: Statistician Role Overview: We are seeking a highly organized Statistician to join our technical consulting team. While we operate in the field of radiation protection, this is primarily a computational and statistical role. You will be responsible for interpreting complex historical datasets, developing robust models, and communicating findings to high-level stakeholders. The ideal candidate thrives when presented with novel data and possesses the discipline to manage client expectations with clarity and professionalism. Note: This role is remote and requires U.S. citizenship.

Responsibilities

  • Novel Data Modeling: Assess, clean, and analyze historical datasets to identify trends, biases, and exposure patterns.
  • Statistical Support: Able to analyze left-censored data.
  • Strategic Client Communication: You must be able to translate statistical methods into actionable, organized reports and presentations for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Methodology Development: Design and implement data mining strategies to extract meaningful information from fragmented or inconsistent historical records.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Provide statistical support to a team of Health Physicists, ensuring that dose reconstruction models are statistically sound and defensible.

Qualifications

  • Master’s in Statistics or Biostatistics, with a strong foundation in data analysis and mathematical statistics. (A Bachelor’s degree may be considered with exceptional professional experience).
  • Minimum of 3–5 years in a dedicated statistical or data science role, preferably within a consulting or regulated environment.
  • Programming Proficiency: Advanced programming skills in R (required) or Python.
  • Critical Adaptability: Proven ability to apply statistical theory to "real-world" data that may not fit standard textbook models.
  • Consulting Soft Skills: Demonstrated ability to remain organized, proactive, and articulate when balancing client requests and project timelines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Domain Knowledge: Familiarity with Health Physics, environmental monitoring, or radiobiology is a plus, but not required for a candidate with strong statistical fundamentals.
  • Agency Experience: Prior experience working with U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) records systems or similar federal regulatory frameworks (AEC, ERDA).
  • Dose Reconstruction: Understanding of internal and external radiation exposure monitoring techniques.

Security Requirements:

  • The ability to obtain a D.O.E. credential (U.S. Citizenship required).

Applicants must be able to pass a government security investigation and meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. The pay range for this position is $80,000 to $110,000 per year. Base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location of the candidate. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
