Senior Fleet Operations Manager - Logistics

Our client, a rapidly expanding national logistics and transportation provider, is looking for an experienced Senior Fleet Operations Manager to join their team in a fully remote capacity. This is a critical role responsible for overseeing and optimizing the daily operations of a large and diverse fleet of vehicles across multiple regions. You will leverage your expertise in logistics, fleet management, and operational efficiency to ensure timely, safe, and cost-effective delivery of goods and services. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing large-scale fleet operations, including driver management, route optimization, vehicle maintenance scheduling, regulatory compliance, and performance monitoring. You will utilize advanced fleet management software and data analytics to identify areas for improvement, implement strategic initiatives, and drive operational excellence. This position requires exceptional leadership skills, the ability to manage complex logistical challenges, and a proactive approach to problem-solving, all from your remote work location. Responsibilities: Oversee the day-to-day operations of a large fleet, ensuring efficient and timely execution of delivery schedules. Manage and support a team of regional fleet supervisors and dispatchers. Develop and implement strategies to optimize routes, reduce mileage, and improve fuel efficiency. Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local transportation regulations (e.g., DOT, FMCSA). Monitor driver performance, implement training programs, and ensure adherence to company policies and safety standards. Manage the vehicle maintenance program, coordinating with third-party providers or internal shops to minimize downtime. Utilize fleet management software and telematics data to track vehicle location, performance, and driver behavior. Analyze operational data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and cost-saving opportunities. Collaborate with other departments, including sales, customer service, and supply chain, to meet business objectives. Develop and manage departmental budgets, controlling operational expenses. Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance fleet performance and customer satisfaction. Respond to and resolve operational issues and emergencies promptly. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in fleet operations management, with a proven track record of managing large and complex fleets. Extensive knowledge of DOT regulations, Hours of Service (HOS), and transportation compliance requirements. Proficiency with fleet management software and telematics systems (e.g., Samsara, Geotab, ORACLE TMS). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and drive actionable insights. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to manage and motivate remote teams effectively. Experience with budget management and cost control. Ability to work independently in a remote setting and manage multiple priorities. Experience in transportation planning and logistics optimization. Certifications such as Certified Transportation Professional (CTP) are a plus.
